As many of you know, Jordan devoted and dedicated himself over the last several years to training and working toward becoming the very best U.S. Freestyle skier he could be in hopes of fulfilling the Olympic dream. He attended junior high and high school in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, at a wonderful school, The Lowell Whiteman School (www.lws.edu) away from his family and friends, so he could perfect his skills and technique. His dream and goal since he was four years old was to be an Olympic mogul skier and he was hoping to make the team to represent the United States in the last Olympics in Turin, Italy. He unfortunately came up a little shy in the competitions prior to the Olympics, and as the result of two major injuries to the same knee, he could not compete at the level necessary to qualify. He was considered by many of his peers as one of the top Freestyle skiers in the United States. Even the Italian team wanted him to represent their team in the Olympics. Jordan wanted to represent the United States. Jordan worked very hard at his craft, and we, his family, did all we could to help him achieve his life-long goal of representing his country in the Olympics.
Jordan's immediate and extended family collectively agreed that Jordan would want to still be a part of the sport he devoted his life to. So, the Jordan Chiovarelli Foundation was formed. It's a way in which Jordan's spirit and dreams can live on through other athletes, and their quests to achieve their dreams.
